Such tension in those pauses, constantly poised on the brink of aggression, never quite descending into chaos. I love serialism and its brethren.

Posset has released another album of dictaphone improv and it is lovely as always.

Dokaka vocalising 21st Century Schizoid Man

Finally found a version of 21st Century Schizoid Man that I like. Ahem. I shall borrow some of this guy's ideas. As soon as I find my voice again. It tends to crawl off and hide when I forget to use it for weeks. My cats are not much for conversation...

Fishing vessel "Havet" - 55 HP hot bulb Hundested engine

Engine noise videos are one of my favourite music genres. This one tuck tucks along in a calm manner with interspersed washes of engine room close-ups. Lovely.

Conga Battle! Go-Go-Go-Go!

Yeah, this makes me unreasonably happy.

Go-Go!

I keep forgetting how much I enjoy Washington D.C. go-go. That hammering drums and congas beat. And that the style has never spread beyond its home town over all the decades of its existence. A rare flower rooted in its own little ecosystem.
Maybe I'll spend the rest of the week digging through Youtube for go-go. Especially the newer variety that doubles down on the hammering.

Jittery, improvised sound collage with interesting pauses. A pause is interesting and perhaps tense when you can't predict when it will end. Some day, I will make music with pauses in it... Yeah right.

A subway turned into atmospheric music

Nicely processed samples of a New York subway ride (below the original field recording).

Paulstretching

The X Lives of Paul, a compilation of Paulstretch applications:

This is surprisingly listenable, as I thought I was tired of the Paulstretch effect. Plenty of variety in these approaches.

Quite lovely noise collage sliding its way through my brain. Rich selection of sounds.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Mustt Mustt (Live at WOMAD Yokohama 1992)

Immense.

Ooze Sleaze - Night of The Canines (20XX) BRAZILLIAN POST PUNK [FULL EP]

Well named band. Does exactly what it says on the cover. Pulsing and oozing guitars and voice. Found on https://yeahiknowitsucks.wordpress.com/2020/01/06/ooze-sleaze-night-of-the-canines/ who put much more effort into appreciating music than I do.

Teemu Korpipää - Raskas joulu

Oh, I just noticed that I hadn't listened to the second part of this. The first is MASSIVELY heavy metal improv while the second meanders along amusingly. Guitar doing improv, drums in the background and voices and noises cutting in here and there. Lovely.

Scatter Filter - In Caverns of Glass

This one sounds exactly like what the name promises.

Suburbia After Dark

by Princess Commodore 64

Apparently this is what vaporwave sounds like today. The one thing I like about the genre is this hint of nihilism: Hello, we're here to annoy you.
The artist's name will annoy those who expect proper 8 bit bleepery. This doesn't sound like any SID chips were invited to the party.

Kompleksi vs. Citizen Omega - Betrayal (2020)

Erkki Rautio, Mr Phinnweb, has a unique voice. Glad to see him singing again. The music could have been made at any point during the past four decades. Bleep boop boop.

Guilty secret: I never listen to the words of anything. And I still love rappers. Underground hip hop was a lovely thing two decades ago. Quick googling says these guys are still active. Must look into that some day. Or forget, as there are so many music links passing my eyeballs these days...
